Tabang, The Wonder Dog

A Dog Hero

A month ago, an askal (a Philippine regular dog breed) made it to our country’s national news. Tabang caught everyone’s attention for her heroic act, in rescuing the two young girls from an alleged hit-and-run incident (who truly proved what her names worth, Tabang in Visayan language means help). Tabang’s face now brutally scared and deformed (even TV videos and Newsprint photos has to be blurred for the now gruesome image the dog has after the accident) now in care of Zamboanga veterinary doctors. Zamboanga’s locality even sought help from different NGOs both in the Philippines and abroad for the dog hero’s facial surgery.  Our government even proposed to declare Tabang as our country’s official hero (in line with names of such world famous boxer - Manny Pacquio, People Power Hero – Benigno Aquino, and more alike).

There are two points I see in Cabang’s story:

© Tabang is such a wonder and a care bear. Everyone wanted to have a dog pet, probably would have an option to lastly choose an askal.of all the dogs I had, my fave was “Jackpot”, a shih tzu. My askal pets were all fine but a well-breed one stand out the most.  Admit it askal are cheap (we can even have them for free!), and low in maintenance to feed and groom (we could feed them anything even our left- overs and we can use ordinary soap to bath them). Now, Tabang and all other untold stories of askals’ heroic act must change all those biasness. After all all men should be equal, as well as dogs too.

© Instead (Aside) from honouring Tabang’s glorifying and faithful act, our government should also push through and strictly impose our existing animal welfare laws. We should also insist in my past blogs, this government should also have laws regarding proper caring, responsible pet ownership and liabilities with all domesticated animals.DOH Secretary if you are busy and hadn’t thought about this yet, now I am calling again your attention.

Rona’s Must Watched Concert this March

The last time I watched and actually enjoyed a concert was way before I got married and relocated here in South Central Mindanao. Though a lot of concerts both and locals are also showcased here, none of those yet has made my feet giggle in excitement and spend a desperately save for the tickets. This year, I had to miss watching Evanescence! And here comes another must watched Philippine concert tour; like Evanescence, whom I grew up singing along with.

I hated tacky romantic music, though this Soul and RnB artist kind of flipped me out through his cheesy lyrics.  He may have dreamy words in his songs but if you listen well, the lyrics perfectly describe what you exactly wanted to express but wasn’t able to put together better than his songs.  Lyrics were simple but has deeper and brilliantly assembled. He is truly an artist not just with an art but with a passion.

Though I had the chance to watched  and follow him on Donald Trump’s ‘Celebrity The Apprentice’, which by the way made me more admire him because he is such a gentleman and a man who knows to handle his principles but never got into an awful fight like all other  apprentices who undergoes pressure and annoying situation. He has made me like him more. His firm but subtle, firm but still friendly, strict but still kind and a leader who exactly knows when to follow.

According to Click the City and Wikipedia, Brian is a multitalented artist who can literally play well in nine different instruments and basically belt and sing in wonderfully varied tones. He is has the most number of been nominations in Grammy’s, American Music Awards, Image Awards, MTV, Soul Train and other local awards back in USA.  

He has also previous collaboration with famous artist such Mariah Carey, Vanessa Williams, Boyz II Men, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Justin Timberlake, Nelly,  Rascals Flat, Mary J. Blige, Josh Groban, and the list may go on. Philippine’s Regine Velasquez has also worked with the respected Brian Mcknight; and now on his Philippine March 16, Regine’s talented young singer Angeline Quinto will have the chance to do the duets with the Knight.  So mark your calendars and save the date on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum. The concert starts at 8pm. Bopping with The Hansons

Wondering what the heck I am mumbling about? It’s the Hanson’s ever famous song. I remember taping the fun-filled and carefree music video of 3 young bothers. The video as if they were all having fun around and just cosily jamm’n together. I even got their cassette tape and I still play it to this day. I had wished years ago that they would come and visit our country. But worst speculations before (within the uprising of rebels and kidnapping in our country, few artists had the guts to hold concert events here), it has been a gossip they mocked Filipinos as monkey looking people. As a Hanson fanatic, I totally did not belied at all. I remember performing their classic mmmbop song in my English 101 subject as part of Literature activity. My classmates were all nice to jam with me and clap their hands as I perform Hanson’s mmmbopping music.

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac formed the jumpy and jolly rock band from Oklahoma. With their youthful looks and jagged  long hairs (who basically re-introduce the appreciation of long hair bohemian rocker look that time), which made young girls scream and giggle with the band. People was impressed of Zac’s drumming skills inspite of his being the youngest and smallest in the sibling’s band; while Taylor was able to handle an up and straight rocker image despite of his handsomely-lady-like feature. Isaac on the other hand has captured women by his quiet and manly gestures while strumming his guitar.

A Young Modern Hero

Hero is often associated with "Superheros" like Superman, Spider-man,  or if you are less of masculine you might think of Wonder-woman (or if your a Filipino most likely Darna will pop up your expectantly, lol). But we have real life heroes like those humanly and real life men who literally saves life like our fearless firemen, brave protectors soldiers, peace loving policeman, dedicated teachers, and if your a Filipino you will probably expect on the list: well, OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) who work hard abroad just to send money to their love ones back in the Philippines.

Just yesterday, I read a news on yahoo about an Australian boy named Jordan Rice who unselfishly prioritized his brothers safety versus his own life. During the massive flood on Australia, the two brothers were rescued by a team but the boy asked the rescuers to save his younger brother first before him. But it was too late before it's his turn to be saved. What's so amazing and unbelievable is that according to Jordan's family, he has great fear of  water. He does not know how to swim at all. But despite of his own weakness and fear he conquered it over his love. His family explains that they could not imagine how troublesome and tragic Jordan went through while drowning to death.

Blake, his brother must probably remember his brother's selfless act through his life.

Jordan, wherever your are; you are an inspiration. I know that your have a good life now with God; I wonder what would make the world if all people were selfless as you?

It has been a family fair to always attend Christmas Cantata on our church. For 5 years of our marriage, we haven't missed any Christmas concert (not that in that 5 years, it's coincidently my husband was the narrator. lol) But last Christmas was way different. Though, every concert, it’s filled with wonderfully rehearsed voices and creatively designed choir formation, last December 26, 2010 was a bit unique. It’s a bit not a typical choir at Capital Alliance Church.

Together with Rap, Mama Luming, and Tala, we arrived early that night, as Pastor Sam reminded us during morning service to come on time for the Christmas Concert.  Truly, our pastor has not dismayed us. Seeing those sophisticated and well-designed choir costumes and star quality make-up (by Jared Palmejar,; yes, they did hired a stylist consultant), I might say, I expected the choir presentation to be somewhat classy. Again, I was not dismayed with my expectations.

For those who was not able to witness the Christmas Cantata, you missed:

5 – Elegantly styled choir members (which I had hard time recognizing who’s who, they were put on their make up fabulously)

4 – Fascinating Lighting and sound effects

3 – Surprisingly elegantly designed change costumes

2 – Astounding Acrobatic Acts blended on each Christmas Carol

1 - Touchy and true to life testimony (though some of the choir member’s testimonies were not clear because you can feel the speaker’s nervousness and husky but crooked voice)

But what I like most was the Musical Concert’s voice over. He must have perfectly practiced every line he read. A clear and inviting voice hovering over and in between the choirs songs was perfect! (ofcourse! Not that my dearest hubbyness did that part, lol)

Though it’s sad that people started to arrive on the last part of the choir presentation, they missed a lot of costume changes, acrobatic acts (which I suspect they also imported a choreographer outside church), delightfully solo acts, touching testimonies and endearing jolly but soulful music; all in one night!

On Philippine Farmers: Best and Worst Profession of All

While watching  Ka Tonying's fearless comments and personal opinion on Umagang Kay Ganda this morning about, I totally agree every points he says. It's as if he thinks through my rationale mind and speaks through my brave/opinionated  mouth (which always I always know, I always get me into trouble, all the time! lol).

In other countries, farmers were viewed as rich and fine living individuals whose government treasure them as their countries' best professionals. Here in the Philippines, most farm owners (most especially the tenants/'trabahador') were one of the poorest of poor. Though they produce the basic commodity of every Filipino, they do not enjoy same privilege of eating a nice plate of meal: worst they may have not enjoyed a good life most of professions which does not relate with agriculture (for your information, agriculture is Philippines' largest industry, but, hell the life of these farmers ). If only Philippine government must have prioritized these farmers. Government will just take a glance on these farmers if they are already suffering death (or not care at all) when media comes in. Where are those promises these politicians promised go? Before elections, there a tons of politicians promised good life, good governance and good agricultural system. Pero asan na ang pangako nyo?! It's heartbreaking to see my lolo''s hardship to till the land and nobody in his apo (grandsons) has even dreamt of being a farmer also? Because my uncles and those farmers in our provinces stayed poor. 'Nak ng kamoteng import-import na yan! Sana maisip ng mga politiko at mga nasa gobyerno (I myself worked in the government, I witnessed unfair and corrupt system; though not all , but most) na habang gumaganda buhay nila, me nahihirapan at halos tumirik ang mata sa kakabungkal ng lupa para lang me mapakain sa kapwa Pilipino nila!

To all the farmers, ipinagmamalaki ko kayo.You all deserve a good life more than a company president. Please help me pray that this generation and the next one, farmers will have a better and best life ever.

Justin Bieber Found To Be Cleverly Disguised 51-Year-Old Pedophile

Okay, I'm back with my blog. Thank goodness I already finished my task at work. Though there may have minor jobs to finish, these two news shocked me while my officemate , Cliff, saw a news video showing Justein Beiber. Allegedly, the hot 16 year old Canadian teen pop singer, Justein Beiber, is a 51 year old pedophile; Michael Cote. Mr. Cote has posed as the teen heartthrob for many years by wearing a wig and convincing rubber mask.

Clever Rice Plantation

Look at these wonderfully crafted crops.. Take note, these are not paintings, murals or the usual artwork we know. Would you believed it? These are ricefields' still-shots taken from above. Very interesting , right?  These are not the same crop cirlcle designed by aliens (lol).  These are ricefields cleverly created by Japanese farmers. Farmers creating the huge displays use no ink or dye. Instead, different color's of rice plants have been precisely and strategically arranged and grown in the paddy fields. As summer progresses and the plants shoot up, the detailed artwork begins to emerge.

Remember the baby  found inside the garbage bin inside the plane? Authorities already located the irresponsible mom, after traces of blood spotted on her seat. (Irresponsible... Should I say heartless mom? Grrr....) According to reports, the mother was a raped victim from Qatar. She claims that she was raped by her employer while working as a domestic helper, and after the wife found out that she is pregnant, she sent her home. Not knowing what to do and how her family would react, she left her child on a garbage bin wrapped with toilet paper of the plane's toilet after giving birth on time for the arrival of the plane to Manila. Philippine authorities are now, taking DNA sample of the child to prove the real parents. They said that the mom of the baby, is longing to see the child and is sorry for her decision to leave the baby in a trash. (Heartless mom, your baby doesn't deserve you. Let him be adopted by those who will truly show compassion and love to him regardless of any trials their new parents may encounter) The child may have been dead from suffocation if not found in few minutes. Reports says that the plane arrived 1 in the morning and George Francis (named after the plane code GF) was found around !!AM. Imagine the suffering of the child wrapped in a garbage plastic back for 10hours! God must have hugged this child 'till someone found him inside the trash.

To the mom of the baby, damn you! Whatever reasons you have, it may be fear or a lot of problems, how could you let your child be thrown and be suffocated in a trash bag full of bacteria (take note, it's trash bin bag! May the Lord God have mercy on you). You are too selfish, you only thought of your own good, that's why you left your child almost dying in a plastic bag!Good thing the mom (eve may be suffering from post par tum disorder?) may be filed with criminal case for abandoning her child.

I never thought that there is a squabble going on between close friends and co-hosts, Mariel Rodriguez and Tony Gonzaga. I just read on yahoo news about it recently. 'Knowing Tony as one talkative person, but she is tactful and safe in her words. How could she be in in rift with the very wacky and posh Mariel Rodriguez?The report says, the misunderstanding started when Robin Padilla requested to replace Tony Gonzaga as his leading lady on their Star Cinema's upcoming film (Tony had already completed 6 days of shooting/taping for the film). He asked the management to just hire Mariel Rodriguez instead (to make the love-comedy story more appealing and realistic, since Robin and Mariel were allegedly reported to have tied the knot before they left for India).  According to recent interview of Tony, without her detailing the cause of their misunderstanding, she expresses her deep heartache about her misunderstanding with her former close friend Mariel. She added that she is still open to be friends with Mariel again, but their relationship this time would never be the same as they were before. Tony described her feeling as too"deeply hurt".

An eight-year old kid spotted a stranded dolphin at San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro and timely reported it to authorities last month. The kids abrupt decision, saves the life of the dying dolphin. The kid's name? Carl Andrei Leuterio who is in his third grade. He said He and his 3 playmates were playing along the beach when they saw the dolphin. 

Carl is the youngest to receive the WWF-Philippines award, citing his heroic action in saving the environment and its species, even in a very young age.

Celphone Charger May Kill You

Last night I watched on news, that a boy was killed by malfunctioned cellular phone charger. According to reports, the mother just saw his boy pushed the cellphone socket to plug the cellphone on. But instead, in few minutes his son died in front of her, seeing him electrocuted remorsefully. 


So my dear parents, advise your kids to be careful and plugging just anything, including the celphone chargers. (Even elementary students owns his on cellphones now! I hope cellphones are regulated and should be just a fruit of their labor... like rewards, or pinag-iipunan, something like that.). Pag me konting sira or di na gumagana, just buy a new ones. Sa pagtitipid baka lalo pa tayo mapahamak, worst,it may kill us... Especially, Christmas is near, old Christmas lights must be replaced, we shouldn't repair it any more. And please buy those that have ICC certificates. Kahit made in China basta pumasa sa standard ng authorities natin, why not?! Di ba?

I hate Glee!

I was able to watched the premier telecast of Glee. But i hate to say it: I never liked it at first, I didn't appreciated the character of their musical coach, which I always tend to forget, including the lead actress's role Leah Michelle. I don't know, there is something about her which I really don't like. May be her role. She's such a looser. Or may be I don't like the way she sings. Her singing makes me want to cover my ears. It's to flirty and overrated. Sa bisaya pa, yaya kaayo. I don't like her version of Journey's Faithfully, she ruined it! Too maarte, as in!  But there are few characters like Sue (whom I really anticipated her Academy Award, oh man she's good!) whom I find challenging and funny. I love the way Jane Lynch protraiyed her role as a self-centered and competitive Cheer club adviser. I also like Kurt Hummel, his gay role is totally lovable (Innocent but liberated gay played by Chris Colfer). As well as Santana Lopez played by Naya Rivera, I find her pretty simple.

But what I am anticipating this coming season is the new addition to the crew, our very own Charice. The fact that she is a Filipino, but she has an astounding and powerful voice.  At early age, and from a foreign land, she infiltrated Hollywood! Now, there is something that I will look forward to watch Glee. Go, Charice ipakita mo ang kaya natin. Charice, dahil sayo, I am proud to be Pinoy!

State of Calamity

Koronadal City is declared under state of calamity. The City was flooded for 3 consecutive days. Many lives has ended as well as roperties and crops were eroded by flood. The flood is associated with the excessive and continuous rain. An estimated  17million or more worth of properties was destroyed by the calamity.

Currently our son, was at Koronadal with his lola Puring. Thank God my in-laws' house is away from the flooded area.  Thank you mama Puring for taking good care of Raph!

Philippine Hostage Taking Training

My hubbyness watched "The EXPANDIBLES " last night, we were happy to see old but familiar faces (hahaha! now, you have idea how young we are). It is a good movie but I wouldn't recommend it to younger ones. Very violent. What's so amazing is, while watching it, I remembered the Quirino Grand Stand Hostage taking last month. Currently, even with overrated and repeated news about it, no result of investigation has yet been released.  Going back to The EXPANDIBLES , well, who would have thought? The members of the gang may perfectly train our SWAT. The "Sorry We Aren't Trained" men? hehehe just kidding. My friend's hubbyness is a police, as well as most of my uncles are too; so let's not be too hard with these guys. If our government is not just that corrupt and the supposed money will only go to the proper budget such as policemen trainings, ammunition and other valuable defense gadgets; probably, more lives may have been saved. Or may be our government officials are may be fair, equal and humane in dealing with  their subordinates, none of these hostage taking took place at all. Sana sa pagkakasibak lang ni Mr. Hostage Taker, maayos at fair, he would have not gone amok.

And by the way, who was that silly big boss of PNP? The fat Poncious Pilate? I don't like him pinning down he's men. Di ba dapat kasama sya sa ginigisa? And can we review our government system's hierarchy? Without stating the obvious that they are not properly coordinating as heads of their offices. Bureaucracy, that is.

According to Jon, he just played the "mind game". But as everyone concluded, it was one dirty and unmanly trick. While Mama Elma Muros (known as one of the best athlete and brought a lot of medals for our country) was bearing 26 kls of weigh on her shoulders, Jon threw a silly and depressing words to Ms. Muros, saying that the weight is too heavy and she will just have to quit. Seeing Mama Elma is having a hard time carrying the very heavy weight, she also bruised herself, and as an addition to the burden, Jon is harsh enough to persuade his female opponent by making not so encouraging words. The other contender of the two is, a Japanese model,  Akihiro.

Heroic Story

On a lighter side, while preparing for work this morning, I watched on GMA& news about a taxi driver who whole-heartedly returned a bag full of techie gadget and Canadian dollars worth 40,000 in Philippine peso. What's so impressive with the taxi driver, is that even he has financial difficulty, he still returned the bag. It's easier not to be tempted if we don't really needed the money, but for the case of the taxi driver, he needs it to provide his family's needs. But of course, when interviewed on DZBB, he admitted that he also thought of keeping the money. But with the persuasion of his wife, he hurriedly called the radio station and asked to look for the owner of the bag. The owner, in return, rewarded the him,  in gratitude of the honest and kind taxi driver.

Currently, I am researching for the name of the taxi driver so that we could commend him personally. Correction, not just taxi driver but "THE TAXI DRIVER"! Kudos to you! I would definitely include you in our prayers that God will bless you more than what you have returned, good health to you and your family as well as a happy and peaceful life. (I promise, I'll try to search his name and his photo as well -- so we can proudly brag him, I will post it ASAP, once I will have his name )

  Alexander “Stitch" Latag (not the space alien which known as Lilo's best ohana) , but a restaurant waiter who also returned a million pesos wrapped in a plastic bag after a customer left it at the resto in Makati. Later, the owner rewarded hin 100,00.. But the best reward is the integrity he gained as one honest and trusted man. Stitch, acknowledged his parents for the way he was raised, that is why it is not that hardfor him do do such heroic act.

It's may be a jackpot for Boc when he foound the money because at that time, his wife is sick and they are about to loose their apartment becauase they were overdue with the rental. Weird

By the way, does Dole Pineapple Philippines have a fire drill today (or some sort of calamity drill)? There has been a two long (as in very long) alarm/buzz plus one regular alarm every hour, which we are use to hear regualry.  It just freaks me out. Can someone explain from Dole Pips?
